The initial idea was to make a clone of ZX Spectrum game Jetpac, with top-down survivor-type gameplay. But it turned out that evenings of the work week simply was not enough to do that. So instead of collecting batteries to charge your rocket, it was made into the game with the guy collecting batteries.
